How much salt can you consume per day?

“SALT IS BAD!”

Above all, be careful not to confuse salt and sodium. Salt is in fact made up of sodium and chlorine; 1g of salt= 400mg of sodium and 600mg of chlorine.
Sodium is necessary for your body to function optimally; in particular for your sodium/potassium ratio to be balanced and to prevent certain conditions, such as hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. The recommendations are between 3 to 6g of salt per day (the upper part being reserved for athletes, whose needs are increased).
What is a problem is if you consume TOO much salt; so basically, if you eat mostly industrial products, yes, you may be in the red.
If, on the other hand, you eat mostly raw foods and don't eat 10kg of raclette, 300g of dried meat and a pot of salt per day, that should be OK.
NB.: If you are prone to water retention and cellulite, maybe try to look more carefully at your salt intake, that can play a role.
